Closure and Inclement Weather Policy:
Little Black Notes will follow all school closings that apply to the Prince William and Prince Georges County School Systems. Makeup sessions will be given, schedule permitting for inclement weather closures.
LLittle Black Note’s core mission is to provide a new exploratory approach to musical training that’s fun, stimulating and all done in a learning environment. LBN is working to provide what may become the area’s most convenient and practical and effective approach to music lessons because we bring the innovative and creative fun to you! We offer a unique, interactive music and performance- based program that offers classes to individuals in private classroom and group settings or in before and aftercare environments. Our approach to music instruction includes formal keyboard techniques, theory, and basic chording (gospel). Our instructors are both trained musicians and performers who understand the importance of incorporating both learning and performance skills. Students are encouraged to learn to play or play, sing and perform!
The benefits of playing a musical instrument are innumerable and are advantageous to the child both personally and academically. In addition to learning hand-eye coordination, they develop stronger study habits, increased attention span, and improved social skills and increases confidence levels all while having fun! What joy, when a child demonstrates skills where he or she can play a familiar song for an audience, family and friends!
Little Black Notes interactive music sessions are designed to teach primer level students, usually ages 4 (+) music instruction based in a group or private classroom setting. In a classroom setting, a group of children will learn to play instruments (recorder, piano, and bells), develop sight reading skills, learn rhythms, listen to and identify various styles of music (for an example: classical, jazz, waltz, polka, pop & RB, gospel, etc.).Students engage in music in motion instruction which incorporates physical interaction, listening skills and lots of fun!
As the Founder and Director of Little Black Notes, LLC., I am particularly committed to developing innovative and creative ideas to change and improve our community through music with collaborative actions with local schools, churches, assisted living senior centers, and Centers for Children and Adults with Disabilities. I work diligently to find creative and innovative approaches to keep the children and the community actively engaged and exposed to ‘The World of Music’.
Little Black Notes (LBN) is a very unique, learning and performance based music instruction program. LBN is designed to deliver interactive group lessons. Our approach to music instruction includes formal keyboard techniques, theory, and chording (gospel). Musical recitals will be scheduled at the end of every quarter. Our instructors are experienced and skilled performers who understand the importance of incorporating both learning and building performance skills. Students are encouraged to learn to play, sing and perform!
Additionally, we currently offer “Music In Motion” where we incorporate both music and fitness for mental and physical stimulation. We expose our students to a diverse range of music enjoyment! We are very excited about our “new” program, and would like to set up a brief appointment to share additional information with you! Note, there are no long term contracts however, LBN’s is limited to 30 students and lessons may be discontinued with reasonable notice (two weeks).
Little Black Notes offers competitive pricing and various packages to suit your needs. LBN’s fees are based on a monthly rate. Our monthly rate is $145 which includes four 45 minute sessions. This rate includes keyboard techniques, theory, basic chording (gospel) performing, recitals and special events. Students are responsible for ordering and covering the cost of additional sheet music and music books not given during registration. There are no make-ups, credits or refunds (except in the case where the lesson is missed by the teacher).

LBN is offering an introductory rate of $100.00 a month! There is also a one-time registration fee of $ 25.00 which is due at the time of registration. Tuition is due by the 1st of the month. On the 5th of the month, a late fee of $25 will be assessed.

LBN is strongly encouraging each student to commit to at least six sessions at the time of registration. Please click through the tabs to learn more about LBN policies including Tardiness, and Cancellation.
If the student is tardy, the student will only be given a lesson that lasts for the duration of their prearranged and agreed upon time and date. No makeup lesson will be given for tardy or absent students and tuition will not be adjusted.
